Many people have shared with me how important this lighthouse is to their own memories as well. I also remember traveling out to the lighthouse from Avery Point on the "Enviro-Lab" ship as a school trip from Norwich. This was during the time that the lighthouse was occupied by the Coast Guard. If I recall correctly there were about eight cadets stationed there at the time. I remember they had one room set up as a weight room... I imagine there were many hours to fill without television! |
